What is the difference between Metal Rollers and Ballpoint pens?

Can you answer forwardred's question about pens?:

I saw a 'Metal Roller' at the office supply store, they look like ballpoint pens, but they are called 'Metal Rollers.' What gives? What the heck is this?

They are essentially the same thing. A ball is pressed into the tip of the pen. This allows the pen to "roll" across the paper while being constantly replenished with ink.

Good luck with your search for information.
